SCD Week Two (278w)
|
This time it’s the ladies turn to dance their way to victory or out of the running of the competition. The first performer was to be another ex-EastEnders star Jessie Wallace who played the character of mouthy Kat on the show. Together with professional dancer Darren Bennett they started with a salsa to the disappointment of Craig Revel Horwood who described their dance as ‘laboured’.
Christine Bleakley was to take the stage next and danced the foxtrot to a more impressed audience of judges and was described in impressive adjectives such as ‘beautiful’ and even ‘ethereal’. Lisa Snowdon was next to dance and received mixed reviews; Len enjoyed the dance while Arlene Phillips and Craig Horwood did not with Craig adding that Lisa was ‘lacklustre’.
Jodie Kidd was pleasantly surprised when she received a good response from both Len and Arlene, although Craig mentioned that her height was perhaps an advantage. Heather Small and Brian Fortuna performed the Salsa to mixed responses and Gillian Taylforth’s foxtrot was depicted as ‘rough around the edges…’
The last performers were singer Rachel Stevens and actress Cherie Lunghi who were more successful. The judges were impressed and Rachel was called ‘amazing’. Cherie was the winner of the biggest scores by the judges with Len adding that it was the best dance he’d seen all night.
The Aftermath
Ex-EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth was to become the first female voted off the competition after receiving a score of twenty two out of forty for her foxtrot. Finding herself in the bottom two couples along with model Jodie Kidd and Ian Waite she told the audience and judges that she had enjoyed her short time.
