Strictly Come Dancing is a dance game show that features non-dancing celebrities and professional dance partners competing in Ballroom and Latin dances. The show was first broadcasted on BBC1 on May 4, 2004, and it is still being shown today. It is hosted by Bruce Forsyth, with Tess Daly and Natasha Kaplinsky. The contestants played for charities, particularly the Comic Relief/Children In Need Telethon '89.
Video clips of rehearsals of each pair are shown before the main show. After one and a half minute of their main performances, the pairs will face the sometimes harsh comments of the jurors, which include Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Phillips, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli. The judges will then reveal the scores of the contestants.
In season 4, the show featured Salsa and Mambo coaches Jaclyn Spencer and Chris Marques plus Swing and Jive coaches Jenny Thomas and Ryan Francois . Flavia Cacace and Vincent Simone were Argentine Tango coaches in the third series but have since also been contestants.
Fifty percent of the final score comes from the judges and the other half is decided by the audience’s phone-in votes. Starting from the fifth series, the two pairs of contestants with the least phone votes will do a dance-off, and the judges will decide who will be eliminated.
The show was praised because of its lively presentation, well-hosted stints, and exceptional musical production. The musicians who performed in the show were Laurie Holloway’s band from series one to three and Dave Arch in the later series. USB sticks provide handy storage for your favourite band's music.
